Obituary

Robert D. “Bud” Bliss, 97, of Greeley returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. He was born on March 11, 1922 in Eaton, CO, to Ira Claire and Thystle Lodena (Deal) Bliss. Bud attended schools in Lingle, WY, graduated high school in Hawk Springs, WY and attended Colorado Teachers College in Greeley CO.

During World War II, Bud was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1942 at the age of 20. He served in the Europen Theatre with the 103rd Infantry (Cactus Division) as a Staff Sargent, earning many medals including, Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, and a rare combat Infantry Badge. In 1945, he was discharged with full honors.

Bud married his love, Elnora Kaiser in 1949 in Idaho Springs, Idaho and they celebrated 67 years together. In 1955, Bud co-founded Bliss Produce with his wife Elnora. After his son, Michael Bliss, joined the business in 1984 all three co-founded Bliss Investments LLC/Bliss Business In-dustrial Park, where Bud continued to work until retiring in 2011.

Bud exemplified public service. He was one of the initiating charter members of the of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), serving as Post #6624 Commander, Chairman of the House Committee, and held additional offices throughout his life. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks and the American Legion.

Bud thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing or taking walks. He spent a lot of his time in Red Feathers, CO and traveling the world with his wife. Above all he loved spending time with his family and friends sharing his many stories. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humor, his generosity to his community, and his perseverance in the face of obstacles.

He is survived by his sister, LaVon Barrett of Longmont; son, Michael (Martha) Bliss; grandchildren, Jennifer and Tyler Bliss; Martha’s father and close friend, Ed Roebuck as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in passing are his wife, Elnora Bliss; daughter, Patricia Bliss; sisters, Edrie Rickard and Eltelka Bliss; Brother, Stacye Bliss, and a brother who died in infancy.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 2 at Adamson. Life Celebration Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 3 at Adamson. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow at the Evans VFW.
