Thomas Wallace Redding, 73, of Greeley, CO passed away peacefully Friday, June 7, 2019 in his home with his family surrounding him.
Tom was born July 10, 1945 in Lyons, NE to Garth and Eva (Beck) Redding. He was a 1963 graduate of Lyons High School and a 1968 graduate of the University of Nebraska with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. On July 5, 1966 he married his high school sweetheart Mary Ann Gerch.
They were blessed with two sons, Christopher and Bryan.
Tom worked at Eastman Kodak for 34 years. In Rochester, NY for the first six years where he worked on a Eastman Kodak government program making fuses for bombs during the Viet Nam war, then at Kodak’s plant in Windsor, CO where he worked as a project engineer. In his later career he was part of an international Kodak team meeting and traveling with people from England, France, Australia, Brazil, and Canada.
While in Rochester, he and Mary Ann received their private pilots’ licenses and enjoyed taking trips throughout the years, many back to their home town to be with each of their families. They were member s of Aero West Flying Club in Greeley for 20 years. They enjoyed dancing to big band music and 60s rock & roll, playing tennis different card games and traveling.
Tom enjoyed sports of all kinds, playing golf, basketball, volleyball, lake fishing in Canada and Minnesota, fly fishing on the Big Thompson and Poudre Rivers in Colorado and the past ten years surf fishing at Port Aransas, TX. After he retired he was very active in the senior basketball programs in Greeley, Ft. Collins and Windsor, playing 5 days a week. For a time he was a volunteer for Hospice of
Northern Colorado. His first love was being a husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; son, Christopher (Sonja Cole); grandson, Bryan (Karina Bassett) and granddaughter, Shania (fiancé Logan Barrett) all of Greeley; sister, Mary (Mark Pearson) of Oakland, NE; brothers, Bob (Robbin McClure) of Colorado Springs, CO, John (Kathy Grewe) of Lexington, NE and Joe
(Laurie Gomez) of Whiting, IA. We will all miss him so very much.
Tom was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Lawrence; and his parents.
Life Celebration Service at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Adamson Life Celebration Home. Interment will be in Lyons, NE
