My late husband, Barry and I lived next door to the Eklunds in the late 60's--early 70's on 13th Street. We moved back home to Iowa in 1976. We stayed in close touch over the years. I remember going to Carter Lake to catch crawdads!! (and eating them, too!!) He always called me "Iowa farm lady". I'm so glad I was able to have a short visit with them last April. My prayers go out to Jean and the family.

Don and I were friends for over forty years and I will certainly miss my conversations with him. We discussed everything from current events, politics and sports. Most of the time we talked sports. Our friendship goes back many years when we were both able to play tennis. Don and I were doubles partners and held our own in many spirited competitions with two friends from State Farm. Don loved a good cigar, and he always had a few cigar boxes laying around the house. I collected several every time I stopped by. My grand children all have a cigar box from Don. Don didn't talk much about his military service in Korea. His story is like many Veterans, one of personal private memories. Don Thank you for your service to our country and thank you for being a life long friend. You will be missed....Roger Porter

Don was a favorite regular customer of mine at King Soopers.
I got to know him a little more personally as the years passed. He met my parents at the Cancer Center and they got to talking and they said their daughter worked for Kings and low and behold they had something in common, Me! You will be deeply missed Don.💕Lea Crittenden

We’re so sorry to hear of Don’s passing. We have fond memories of time spent with Jean and Don over many years of dinners and our annual Cajun boils. Dad remembers the cigars smoked after a meal together. Sending much love. Norm Synovec and Troy &Amy Kingston
