Obituary of Bill Hoerner
William “Bill” Richard Hoerner, 72 of Greeley, formerly of Denver, passed away on September 7, 2022 in Greeley. He was born January 14, 1950 in Denver to William and Thelma (Gilmore) Hoerner.
He graduated from Denver South High School and Metro State College with a Bachelor’s degree. Bill worked for the Denver Park and Recreation department his entire career, most recently directing and managing recreation centers and programming.
He had a passion for all sports. He was a coach and refereed/umpired basketball, football, softball but had a true passion for baseball. Playing a quick or extended game of catch with his son Jon was the highlight of his day. He had a heart of gold and would do anything to make anyone he cared for, know that they were never alone or un-thought of. If he could enjoy an afternoon with a BBQ and some “Beach Boys” in the background, with Jon and his life- long buddies he couldn’t be happier.
Thankful to have shared his life are his son, Jon Hoerner, newly daughter in law Andrea, and grandson, Colton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill’s Life Celebration will be held from 2-4 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2022 at Adamson where photos, stories and food will be shared. Memorial gifts may be made to “Weld County Humane Society” in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Friends may leave condolences at AdamsonCares.com.
