Obituary of Gary Lee Svoboda
Gary Lee Svoboda, 60, of Kersey, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022 at his home. He was born on March 26, 1962 in Nebraska to Theodore and Dorothy (Meduna) Svoboda.
Gary grew up in Kersey and graduated from Kersey High School in 1980. That same year he started his own business, Svoboda Custom Harvesting that he still owned and operated. His business was his everything and he would spend countless hours in the winter working on his machinery to get ready for the following year.
Gary was heavily involved with the Derby, where he had his own cars at the Greeley Stampede for many years. Whether he won or lost it didn’t matter because he had the ability to light up the arena with his infectious smile and energy. He also enjoyed watching car racing, getting out for a good antiquing excursion (where he never met a milk bottle he didn’t like), spending each morning at the Butter My Biscuit Café, and creating countless friendships with almost anyone he encountered. His humor, laughter and smile were contagious, which is what made him the person you would never forget. Due to his gracious heart, he was always willing to give a helping hand for all of his family, friends and neighbors, which is why he will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his sister, Karen Weimer of Greeley and his niece and nephews; Candace Goldstein of Tucson, AZ, Carrie Miller (Ray) and great niece, Jade of Colorado Springs, CO, and Chris Weimer of Aurora, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Svoboda.
A Life Celebration will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Adamson Life Celebration Home.
