Obituary of Bill D. McDonald
Bill D. McDonald, 85, of Greeley, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023, at North Colorado Medical Center. Bill was born in Long Beach, California on August 26, 1937, to James and Norine (Britton) McDonald. The family moved to Mitchell, Nebraska when Bill was just an infant. After graduating from Mitchell High School in 1955, he moved to Denver, CO where he attended barber school while also serving in the Army Reserves. Bill worked as a barber with his brother, Rex, for many years then became a sales representative for Berger Brother’s Beauty Supply, retiring in 2000.
In January of 1977, he married the love of his life, Cheri (Edwards Drew) McDonald. Together, they lived mainly in Westminster until moving to Greeley in 2018. Bill loved to go fishing and taught all his boys how to fly fish. He was quite the handyman and a knowledgeable do-it-yourselfer. He found solace in tinkering and sanctuary in his garage. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandsons and made sure they knew it.
Bill is survived by his wife Cheri McDonald of Greeley; his 3 sons, Jeff P. McDonald (Gayle) of Hastings, Minnesota, Brad L. McDonald (Jean) of Frederick, Colorado, and Jeff R. McDonald (Jenny) of Anchorage, Alaska; his 6 grandchildren: Jake (Krista) , Jenna (Dominic), Elyse, Talia, Hayden, and Madison; 3 great-grandsons, Ryker, Rawah, and Lincoln; his sister, Kay Eichorn of Alcova, Wyoming; sister-in-law, Mary McDonald of Westminster, Colorado, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Claudia Hering, of Hampton, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Rex McDonald.
