Obituary of Virginia Lucille Kennedy
Virginia was born November 11, 1938 to Franklin P. and Lucille Koehler McMillan in Sterling, Colorado.
She attended first through part of third grade in Daily, Colorado and the remainder third grade through high school in Fleming, Colorado where she graduated in 1956.
Virginia was employed at the Security State Bank in Sterling until her marriage to her high school sweetheart, Garry Kennedy, on February 8, 1958. They lived north of Daily where Garry farmed with his father. Their three daughters, Debra, Karen, and Leanna were born while living there.
The family moved to Longmont Colorado in 1967 when Garry began his employment with IBM Boulder.
During these years, Virginia worked outside the home, mostly in the medical field as a secretary and office manager.
After Garry's retirement in 1996, Garry and Virginia moved to the Johnstown area. During that time, they spent many happy times traveling in their motor home throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Through these travels they acquired many treasured friendships.
She spent her time enjoying activities such as bowling, oil painting, sewing, and reading. Cherished times were shared with her precious family enjoying camping throughout the Colorado Mountains, taking road trips, or just hanging out with each other. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnstown, Colorado.
Virginia is survived by her three daughters, Debra (Robert) Griffin of Ft. Lupton, Karen (Bart) Tennant of Berthoud, Leanna (Pat) Mastaler of Kennewick, Washington. Four granchildren; Cody (Amy) Tennant, Rebecca (Bryce) Bowell, Samantha Mastaler, Danielle Mastaler, and great-grandaughter Kennedy Bowell. Brother Stan (Kathy) McMillan of Longmont, sister, Jodelle Etl of Fleming, and sister-in-law Judy Schlenz McMillan of Firestone.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Lucille, her brothers Frank and Jerry and by her beloved husband, Garry.
