Obituary of Wayne Joseph Harrison
Wayne Joseph Harrison, 82, of Greeley, passed away May 24, 2023 at his home. He was born December 3, 1940 in Sault St. Marie, Michigan to Clifford and Shirley (Batho) Harrison. He grew up and graduated from High School in Pickford, Michigan. He served in the US Army from 1960 to 1962. He entered college in 1962 and graduated from Western Michigan University in 1966. Wayne married Marilynn (Missi) Ross between sophomore and junior years in college. They moved to Omaha, Nebraska after graduation. He worked for Arthur Anderson & Co. and obtained his CPA certificate in Nebraska. In 1971 they moved to Greeley where he worked for Monfort of Colorado. He started as controller of the Portion division and became Vice President of Monfort managing the Portion Foods division and later the Packing division. Since 1984 he managed his own sales and marking company, Harrison and Associates.
He was active in many volunteer efforts, serving as President and Chairman of the Board of the Colorado Meat Dealers Association. He served on the Northern Colorado Youth for Christ organization for many years. He was Treasurer and Board member for six years with Dayspring Christian School Foundation Board. At Western Michigan University he was active with the Honorary Accounting Society. He and his wife, Missi, loved to travel throughout the US and Mexico. His favorite hobby was to be in Western Colorado hunting elk and mule deer. He grew up to the outdoors in Michigan and loved to be in the mountains of Colorado.
Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife Marilynn (Missi) of Greeley; his children Gina and husband John Flores of Danville, CA, Amy and husband Jeremy Wagner of Greeley, CO, Nicole Harrison of Federal Heights, CO and Tony Harrison and his fiancé Kara of Denver, CO; his grandchildren, Evan Glovan, Casey Laurent, Cody Harrison and wife Kristen, Cole Harrison, Clay Harrison, Mikayla Flores, Niko Hoof, Gabriella Flores, Skylar Wagner; one great-grandchild, Henrick Harrison; and his siblings, Dennis Harrison and wife Jody of Rapid River, Michigan, Tom Harrison of Pickford, Michigan and Neil Harrison and wife Sue of Pickford, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Life Celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023 at Adamson Life Celebration Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Assistance League of Greeley.
