Ruth Catherine Stumpf

Ruth Catherine (Zimmerman) Stumpf, 88, passed away on May 30, 2023, at her home after a battle with Dementia/ Alzheimer's Disease.
Ruth was born March 7, 1935, the daughter of David and Catherine (Groves) Zimmerman and was a teacher in the Otis, Colorado School District for 35 years and was a resident of Yuma, Colorado for 42 years before moving to Greeley, Colorado in 2001.
Ruth leaves behind a husband Ernest, a son Kenneth (Tena) Stumpf of Eaton, CO and a daughter Kathi (Paul) Miller of Greeley, CO; grandchildren Sarah (Mike) Avrech of Severance, CO, Kelly (Todd) Stanclift of Eaton, CO and Kristin (Jacob) Campbell of Casper, WY; great grandchildren Sydnee, Harper and Brody Avrech, Haleigh and Ryder Stanclfit, Cullen Campbell and many relatives and friends.
Ruth graduated from Greeley High School in 1953 and Colorado State College in 1957 with a teaching degree. Ruth later received her Master's Degree from the University of Northern Colorado. Ruth Married Ernest in August 1956 and celebrated 66 years of marriage in August 2022. Ernie and Ruth moved to Yuma, CO after their college graduation and Ernie began his teaching career. Ruth began her teaching career in 1966. Ruth was a faithful coaches' wife and went to many football and basketball games and track meets over the years while living in Yuma and Greeley. Ruth loved all sports and watched many of the sports on TV with Ernie when they weren't attending events. They also had University of Colorado Buffalo season football tickets for over 25 years. Ruth loved teaching her 4th, 5th and 6th grade students’ science and math during her years at Otis. They retired and moved to Greeley, CO in 2001 to be closer to their children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. In retirement, Ruth loved to travel, read books, do puzzles, and visit with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ruth was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Yuma, CO and a present member of the Cornerstone Community Church in Greeley, CO.
A Life Celebration with a viewing at 9 a.m. and a service at 10 a.m. will be held on June 15th at Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Ave., in Greeley, with a burial and a reception to follow. No memorial gifts are requested. Friends may leave condolences at adamsoncares.com.
