Obituary of James Scott Maple
Known to most as “Jim”, James was born James Scott Maple in long Beach, CA and raised in California until age 18.
At age 18, Jim accepted an appointment to the US Air Force Academy. There he completed a Bachelor of Science degree and graduated with the class of 1977 and commissioned as a US Air Force Officer.
In the US Air Force his dream of flying came true when he became a C-130 pilot. In 1980 he married the love of his life Susan A. Martin and started a family, three beautiful children. With his family in tow he continued his Air Force career, he served in Desert Shield/Storm. He served honorably until he retired in 1997 when he settled with his family in Greeley, CO.
In Greeley Jim became heavily involved in scouting, he enjoyed helping the scouts do various activities. One of these activities, scuba diving captivated him, he was hooked into the world of scuba diving. With passion he became a master scuba diver and is accredited with diving to a depth of 241 ft.
He enjoyed contributing to the community through Greeley Elks Lodge #809 and was very dedicated to the role he was elected to as Exalted Ruler.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and camper.
Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years Susan A. Maple, children; Jennifer Maple, Kirsten Maple and Edward Maple, mother Lovona Maple and brother Daniel Maple.
Memorial Services will be held Friday July 21st, 2023 2:00pm at Elks Lodge #809 3061 W. 29th street, Greeley CO 80631
