Douglas Meisner

Obituary of Douglas Eugene Meisner

Douglas Eugene Meisner of Greeley, Colorado, aged 63, passed away peacefully in his home on July 15th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 22, 1959, in Fort Morgan, Colorado to Henry and Gladys (Kaiser) Meisner.

Doug was proud to be raised in Wiggins, Colorado on the family farm. He worked alongside his parents, siblings, and cousins completing day-to-day chores, farming, running the dairy, and training horses. He worked hard but also played hard with go-kart racing, fixing up cars, and family gatherings. Following his mother’s passing at the age of 16, Doug quickly learned his way around the kitchen and household in addition to the farm chores, and his favorite recipe to share was his mom’s Graham Cracker Pie.

On March 20, 1982, he married the love of his life, Kathy Trimble in Greeley, Colorado. They briefly lived in Wiggins and Evans, before making Ault their permanent home to raise their family together and build a life. Doug was first and foremost a family man that always had a good joke to tell, love and wisdom to share, as well as skills to teach. He was an adoring father and husband, always the rock of the family.

He was known to all he knew as dedicated and hard-working. He was very resourceful, skilled, and inventive when it came to fixing just about anything. These traits were put to use throughout his professional life, in his younger years working as a mechanic then when moving to Evans, he worked as a forklift operator for Monfort. He then went on to work as a Supervisor at Universal Forest Products in Windsor where some of the tools he invented to complete tasks can still be found in use. Most recently he worked for the Town of Ault, where he was committed to preserving and improving his community before ultimately retiring as the Maintenance Supervisor.

Doug will always be remembered as a strong individual, both in character and presence. His unwavering strength served as an inspiration to all who knew him. His kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact that will not be forgotten.

Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine Meisner, who stood by his side through thick and thin; his three children, Jeremy Meisner, Ricky Howell, and Nicole (Steve) Taylor, who promise to never leave the front door open and let the cool air out; his buddy, his grandson, Weston Meisner, who brought him immense joy and fun times playing trucks and pirates; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gladys Meisner; his brothers, Steven and Don Meisner and sister, Darlene Conner; his in-laws, Frieda and Hugh Trimble and brother-in-law, Terry Trimble; his niece, Kimberly Meisner-Hobbs and nephew, Don Conner.
