Obituary of Janet LaVerle Lindgren
Janet LaVerle Lindgren, 87, of Johnstown, passed away at her home on Thursday, July 13, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born March 28, 1936 in Fremont, NE to Gaylord and Alice (VanHorn) Nygren. Her father died when she was five years old and his brother, Conrad Nygren, married her mother, moving the family to the Nygren farm outside of Malmo where she was raised.
Jan graduated from Luther Junior Academy in Wahoo, NE before attending Immanuel School of Nursing in Omaha, NE, becoming a Registered Nurse.
On March 28, 1957, she married Roger Lindgren at Edensburg Lutheran Church in Malmo, NE.
Jan worked as a surgical nurse for the Weld County Hospital, now NCMC and as the school nurse and bus driver for Weld RE-5J school district for many years. She retired in 1985 and took care of her parents until they passed away.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, traveling and playing the organ. They were members of Faith Lutheran Church in Johnstown where Jan played the organ for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Roger, daughters; Ruth (Danny) Eggett and Kathleen “Kate” (Jon) Williams, three grandsons; Braiden Maricle, Ryan Eggett, Ian Burch and her granddaughter, Dallys Eggett, her sister, Ruth Horak as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her fathers; Gaylord and Conrad and her mother, Alice.
A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2023 at Adamson. Jan’s Life Celebration will take place on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Johnstown. Interment at the Johnstown Cemetery with a reception immediately following at the church.
