Obituary of William "Bill" Howard Honstein
Obituary of William H. Honstein 1930-2023
William H. Honstein, aged 93, passed away peacefully at his home in Greeley, Colorado. He leaves behind his loving wife of 68 years, sons Randy (Lisa) and Richard Honstein, grandsons Levi and Tyler Honstein. Bill was born January 25, 1930, to Adam P and Martha (Bostron) Honstein in Windsor. He attended school in Eaton and Greeley.
Bill served in the US Army from 1951-1953, based in Anchorage, Alaska. Upon discharge, he returned to farming in the Evans area. Bill married Darlene on May 1, 1955, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, raising their two sons in Gill/Kersey. Bill discontinued farming in 1989 and went to work for Weld County in the Road and Bridge Department until his retirement.
Bill and Darlene spent their early married life attending Dutch Hops and social events with their circle of friends. One of his greatest joys was taking his grandchildren on vacation trips to Yellowstone, Dinosaur National Monument and to the Grand Canyon, and the Hoover Dam. Later in life, Bill had the opportunity to participate in Honor Flight to celebrate America’s veterans with a day of honor at our nation’s memorials. He will be missed.
