Obituary of Julian Joseph Martinez

Julian Joseph Martinez was born on June 12, 1939, to Felipe and Margaret (Garcia) Martinez. He grew up in the Gilcrest, Colorado and graduated from Gilcrest High School (Valley High School) in 1957. He married Carol Garcia in 1961. They raised three sons.

Julian worked in the beef industry his entire career, He started at Montfort Beef and worked his way up from the kill floor to become supervisor. In 1980 two months after a 73-day union strike, Montfort closed its Greeley packing plant, citing economic reasons.  Julian then worked for several other beef plants including Circle C in Commerce City. During this time Julian met his current wife (Mary) Carol Garza. Julian and Carol moved to Nebraska in 1985 working at Beef America before starting work at Nebraska Beef. Julian and Carol; were happily married on August 30, 2005. He retired from Nebraska Beef in February 2022.

Julian was liked by all people especially his coworkers who saw him as a boss who would jump in and help cut meat or do what needed to get done. Julian loved the Colorado Buffalo football team and held season tickets until the pandemic. Julian would faithfully pray the rosary every day.

Julian died peacefully on July 19, 2023, at 03:00 pm the same time our Lord Jesus died on the cross. Also, during the moment he passed away the sun broke through the clouds. The light from the sun rays shone on his face.
