Obituary of Leland Eugene Thomas

Leland Eugene “Gene” Thomas, 80, of Johnstown passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.  Gene was born May 17, 1943, to Leland and Reva (Baker) Thomas in Brush, Colorado.  He grew up in the Eastern Colorado area before moving to Milliken as a teenager, where he graduated from Milliken High School in 1962.  On July 11, 1965, he married Linda L. Williams in Akron, CO.  Gene was a farmhand in the front range and eastern Colorado and worked in industrial production and maintenance as a welder working at Great Western Sugar Company, Ralston Purina, Coors (Johnstown), and Steel Star.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors, and classic cars, which included rebuilding his 1976 Ford pickup with his family and special friends.

Gene is survived by his children; Marvi Pruden (Joel) of Ewing, Nebraska; Russell Thomas (Debbie) of Arvada, CO, and Mark Thomas (Stacie) of Milliken, CO; grandchildren, Adria Thomas (Cole), Amber Thomas, Brandon Pruden; siblings, Richard Thomas (Linda) of Johnstown, CO and Peggy Rader of Bayard, Nebraska, and special family recognition of Leland and Linda’s son Keith Nance (Carol) and their children Debra and Billy of Syracuse, Utah. Preceded in death by his parents Leland and Reva Thomas, wife Linda Thomas, and sister Eldora Ballard.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2023, at Adamson Life Celebration Home.
