Obituary of Carolyn Marie Carlisle

 Carolyn Carlisle, age 98, peacefully passed away at Life Care Center of Greeley on July 30,2023. She was born Sept. 10,1924 northeast of Greeley, to Henry and Mary (Bernhardt) Herbst. She attended country schools through the 8th grade, then graduated from Greeley High School in 1942.

After her graduation, she was accepted for a position in Civil Service and was employed at the Army Air Force Base in LaJunta, where she married Donald Carlisle.

She is survived by a son, Bruce Carlisle (Lyn) and a daughter Julie Brim (Bob), 4 granddaughters, Robyn and Amy Brim, Debby Romey  (George),Jennifer Hooten(Paul), 2 grandsons Joel and Bobby Brim and 4 great granddaughters, Sophie and Aubree Romey,Malie and Delanie Hooten.

She was active in her church, Our Saviors Lutheran and was a den mother for her son's Cub Scout troop, and the neighborhood organizer for her daughter's Girl Scout troop.

She was a member of Scroll & Fan, and belonged to a book club. She enjoyed reading and writing her own poetry, playing bridge and the company of her family.

Preceding her in death are 4 brothers, Daniel Herbst(Minna), Herman Herbst(Freda), Reynold Herbst(Wynona),and Henry W. Herbst(Esther), 2 sisters, Juanita Bostron & Eleanor(Mitzi) Kuentzel and her parents.
