Obituary of Morris "Gene" Eugene Rider
The family of Gene Rider is sad to announce his passing on August 9, 2023. Gene Rider was born April 30th, 1936 in Industry, Kansas. He attended school in Clay Center, and graduated in 1954. After graduation, he entered the Navy as a radar technician. He served on four ships including the USS Monticello, where he was a plank owner. He worked at Hewlett Packard for 30 years and was Severance town clerk for 10 years. His hobbies were fishing and hunting with his boys.
He met his wife Norma on a blind date, and six months later they were married on December 12th, 1959. They were married for 63 years. Gene and Norma took numerous Caribbean cruises, plus a land and cruise trip to Alaska. He was a member of the American Legion Post 109, and Windsor’s Senior Organization. He always carried two half dollars in his pocket, depicting the years his two grandchildren were born. They were very special to him. He went on the Honor Flight in May of 2017 and was very honored.
He is survived by his wife Norma Rider, his sons Jerry (Linda) Rider, Randy (Maila) Rider, and grandchildren Aspen (Zakk) Tafoya, Nash Rider, and soon to be great grandson, as well as his sister Rita (Doug) Jeffries.
Funeral will be held Monday, August 21st at Adamson Mortuary in Greeley, Colorado at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to:
