Obituary of Mary Lynn Hastings

Mary Lynn (Murphy) Hastings, 71, of Greeley CO, passed away on August 19, 2023, after battling ALS.

Mary was born on November 22, 1951 to Dayton Jr and Maralee (Helfer) Murphy in Nebraska City, NE. After Mary graduated from Greeley Central in 1970, she went on to pharmacy program at CU Boulder.

After graduating with a bachelor's in pharmacy, she started her first job at Super Saver Drug as a pharmacist, kickstarting a nearly 30 year career in retail pharmacy. 

In 1972, Mary married Larry Hastings at St. Mary's Catholic church in Greeley. Mary and Larry went on to have 2 children, Amy (Hastings) Hobler and Andrew Hastings. 

In 2015, Mary retired and spent her time gardening, watching baseball, reading, listening to Alan Jackson, putting jigsaw puzzles together, and loving on her grandchildren.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, and brother Jeff. She is survived by her spouse Larry, children Amy and Todd Hobler, their daughter Presley, and Andrew Hastings and Bianca Gaines, their son Dayton and daughter Miley, brothers Patrick Murphy, and Brad and Marilyn Murphy, sisters Jody and Everett Carlson, and Kelle and Milo Boles, and her aunt Jean Carol Murphy. Numerous nieces and nephews, many cousins. 

Services will be held at Adamson Life Celebration Center on August 29th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The ALS Association Rocky Mountain Chapter, an organization Mary used in her time of need.
