Marlene Adele Selden

May 7, 1933 - September 21, 2023

Marlene was born in Algona, Iowa to Russell and Grace. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. She spent her early childhood years in several towns throughout Iowa. Her family eventually moved to Salina, Kansas where she graduated from Salina High School in 1951. After graduation, she attended Kansas Wesleyan University (KWU) on a music scholarship. While at KWU, she met Charles Selden. They married on July 5, 1953, right before Charles entered the U.S. Army. Their 53 years of marriage were blessed by 3 children and a baby who miscarried in 1961.

In 1971, the family moved to Greeley, CO. Marlene served as a church organist for many years and was employed by the Weld Library District for 19 years. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Greeley. Family activities with children and grandchildren and the times she spent with her many friends and volunteer opportunities were cherished. Marlene was also blessed by the love and care given to her by Richard, Carolyn Housden, and family.

Marlene is preceded in death by husband, Charles in 2006, brother, Richard, and her parents. She is survived by daughter Pamela and husband, Thomas, daughter Lori and husband, David, and son David and wife, Barbara. She is also survived by her precious 6 grandchildren and their spouses and 7 great-grandchildren.

A Life Celebration will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1800 21st Ave, on Monday, October 9th at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow in the church's fellowship hall. The service will be preceded by a private family burial at Linn Grove Cemetery.
