Cynthia Sidwell "Cindy"

Obituary of Cynthia Carolyn Sidwell "Cindy"

Cynthia “Cindy” Carolyn Sidwell, 84, of Greeley, Colo., passed away peacefully after a brief illness on September 28, 2023.

Cindy was born on June 1, 1939 to Walter Eugene & Ruth Fern (Crider) Drake in Phippsburg, Kansas. When Cindy was a young child her family relocated to Northern Colorado. She graduated from Pierce High School, where she met her husband Walter Sidwell from Nunn, Colo.

Walt and Cindy were married on January 20, 1957. Walt and Cindy welcomed three children, Jerald “Jerry”, Joy & Justin “Gus”.

Shortly after being married in 1959, Walt and Cindy and Walt’s two brothers joined F.A. Sidwell in the ranching business and formed a corporation, F.A. Sidwell & Sons. In 1975, Walt and Cindy sold their ranch in Carr, Colo., and moved to Hayden, Colo. They continued ranching there, where they added registered Angus cattle and commercial cattle to their registered Hereford operation and were joined by their sons and families in that endeavor. In 1983, they returned to Weld County continuing the family tradition of agricultural interests.

Cindy had many interests and hobbies in life. She was an avid reader with a love for the bible. She loved flowers and her garden and knew the names of every flower you could imagine. Cindy became a master gardener and went on to use these skills in her gardening and floral arrangements, winning many awards. Cindy loved to share her love of floral arrangements with her family by making arrangements for many of her grandchildren’s weddings.  Cindy loved all things beautiful, she was a collector of glass, a jewelry maker and loved her collection of gems and minerals. She was also a talented seamstress, even sewing her daughter’s wedding dress.

She loved to be by Walt’s side as he pursued his love of livestock. They traveled across the nation as a family to many 4-H and Colorado Junior Hereford Association events.

Cindy was a devoted 4-H leader, Cowbell member and Extension Homemaker. But her greatest joy in life was her family and she enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at their events and livestock shows. Throughout her life she loved her corgis, with her latest being her best friend, Maggie.

Cindy was a devoted Christian and had a deep love and passion for the Lord. God was always her comfort and guidance through life. She attended many different churches over the years, spending her last few years serving the Lord at the Wellington Filling Station.

Cindy is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Carl Sidwell; her parents, Gene & Ruth Drake; brother, Dennis Drake; brother-in-law, Harold Sidwell; and great-grandson, Walker J Heidenreich.

She is survived by her son, Jerry (Linda) Sidwell of Carpenter, Wyo.; daughter, Joy (Randy) Booco of Hayden, Colo.; son, Justin (Terri) Sidwell of Ault; grandchildren, Becky (Tyler) Heidenrech, Weston and Landree of Dalhart, Texas; Wyatt (Tye) Heidenreich of Hudson; Clint (Casey) Sidwell, Jed and Cal of Gill; Curtis (Erin) Sidwell, Braiden, Addie and Dani of Pierce; Jody (Aaron) Booco-Balleck of Craig, Colo.; Jessie Booco of Craig, Colo.; Jamie (Chad) Booco-Day and daughter Tessa of Hayden, Colo.; Tyrel (Kaycee) Sidwell, Jordan, Kara, Paisley and Taylor of Eaton; Whitney Sidwell, Ava and Owen of Ault.
