Obituary of Roger Lee Lindgren
Roger L. Lindgren, 91, of Johnstown passed away September 29, 2023 at his daughter’s home in Ft. Worth, TX where he recently located to be closer to family. He was born February 28, 1932 in Wahoo, NE to Walter E. and Clara (Anderson) Lindgren.
As a youngster, he worked for many farmers in the area, developing a very strong work ethic. He graduated from Wahoo High School in 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving from April 28, 1952 until receiving an Honorable Discharge on April 27, 1956.
Roger then enrolled at Luther Jr. College in 1956 and transferred to Omaha University. He had been dating Janet Nygren for six years and they married on March 28, 1957 at Edensburg Lutheran Church in Malmo, NE. While attending Summer school, he was invited to apply to Colorado State University where they moved in August of 1957. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts in 1960 and accepted a teaching position at Seibert High School. He spent his summers working on his Masters Degree, receiving it in 1965. He began his career with Roosevelt High School in Johnstown in 1964, teaching Woodworking and Drafting and Mathematics. He retired in 1987, continuing as a substitute until his teaching certificate expired after three years.
Roger enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting, fishing, board games and attending sporting events. He helped run the clock for high school wrestling and assisted the “Chain Gang” at high school football games. He served on the Johnstown Board of Adjustments for 25 plus years, treasurer at Faith Lutheran Church, the Johnstown-Milliken Education Association and the Lions Club. He was also a faithful member of the Faith Lutheran Church choir, all the years they lived in Johnstown.
Survivors include his daughters; Ruth (Danny) Eggett and Kathleen “Kate” (Jon) Williams, three grandsons; Braiden Maricle, Ryan Eggett, Ian Burch and granddaughter, Dallys Eggett.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jan on July 13, 2023.
Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Adamson. Life Celebration 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Faith Lutheran Church, Johnstown. Interment Johnstown Cemetery with a reception to follow at the church. Memorial gifts may be made to the “Weld RE-5J Education Foundation” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
