Obituary of Grace Martinez
Graciela “Grace” Martinez, 73, of Ault was called home to our heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. She was born November 4, 1949, in San Benito, Texas to Manuel Garza, Jr. and Eva (Saldana) Garza. She attended Platte Valley High School in Kersey. On August 19, 1967, she married Daniel M. Martinez in Greeley at Our Lady of Peace.
Grace’s primary job was a homemaker, and throughout her career worked various jobs including Woodward Governor for 10 years. She enjoyed making stained glass artwork, shopping, gardening, decorating and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ault.
Grace is survived by her husband, Daniel M. Martinez, Sr. of Ault; her grandchildren, Richard Christopher Martinez of Ault, Nathan Daniel Martinez and wife Joeleen of Greeley, and Breanna May Martinez of Greeley; her great-grandchildren, Nathan Jr., Nehemiah, and Nuriah all of Greeley; and her siblings, Joe Garza of Evans, Mike Garza of Martha’s Vineyard, Sandy Benavidez of Grover, Brenda Archuleta of Greeley, and Rick Garza of Greeley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Fred Garza and Patricia Alverez; and her son, Daniel M. Martinez, Jr.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. followed by the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Adamson Life Celebration Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ault. Interment at the Ault Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Ault VFW.
