Obituary of Betty Jean Payne
Betty Jean Payne, 78, of Greeley, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at her home. She was born November 17, 1944 in Kennedy, TX to John August and Sue Katherine (Bednorz) Wojtasczyk where she grew up, graduated from high school and attended Southwest Texas College in San Marcus.
She married Robert Glen Humphrey, Jr. in 1963 in Texas and he passed away in 1986. She married C.R. Payne in 1991 in Las Vegas and he passed away in 1993.
They owned and operated Sunset Plugging & Equipment before she began working the family business, Rocky Mountain Process Serving as a process server.
Betty Jean enjoyed her crossword puzzles, flower gardening as well as her cats and dogs. She most enjoyed Christmas and decorating for the holidays.
Survivors include her children; Tommy (Mable) Humphrey, Timmy (Nicole) Humphrey, Jim (Kirsten) Humphrey and Tami (Nicole Terito) Humphrey, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, her sister, Teresa Holland, nieces and nephews as well as her cat, Mr. C.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, her son Billy Humphrey, brother Ernest Wojtasczyk, and her sister Dorothy Smith.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Adamson. Life Celebration 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2023 at Adamson. Interment Linn Grove Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Adamson Reception Center. Memorial gifts may be made to “NOCO Humane Society” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
